Two youth drowns in Dhansiri river

BOKAJAN, Aug 07: In an unfortunate incident two youths died at Janakpuhuri in Dhansiri river, under Khatkhati Police Station on Sunday.

According to the local police, six friends went to celebrate a birthday party at the riverside when a 22-year-old boy Sumit Kuri started swimming and slipped into deep water while bathing. Immediately, a 19-year-old friend Abranil Basak jumped into the river to rescue Sumit. However, both of them were recovered dead on Sunday afternoon by the local police. The deceased were identified as the locals of Karagaon ASRF Camp near Loknath Mandir.

Further, the dead bodies were sent for postmortem to Diphu Medical College & Hospital (DMCH), after which they were handed over to their family for performing the further ritual. 

The local police also urged the public to avoid swimming in the Dhansiri river since the water level is rising due to the monsoon rain.
