HAVARKEHAT, Sept 03: The United Students Union of Karbi Anglong Dengaon Regional Committee organised a protest against the state government over its failure to curb the extreme hike in prices of essential commodities.

During the protest, the students’ body burned the effigies of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Food & Civil Supplies Minister Ranjit Das blaming them for the not able to take any measures in arresting the price hike of essential commodities which has hit the common people.

“The BJP government has made mockery of its party’s motto of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas…by its absolute failure to control prices of essential commodities,” USUKA CC president Bibison Teron said.

The organisation president further said, “If the government fails to take early measures to control the prices, we would be compelled to take rigorous protest in the coming days and the government themselves would be responsible for any situation that may arises out of it.”

USUKA CC general secretary Jintu Hazarika, USUKA Dengaon Regional Committee president Sarlong Hanse and secretary Sarlong Terang took part in the protest programme.
