DONGKAMUKAM, Aug 04: A disturbing image from Dongkamukam’s Waisong Stadium has highlighted the deplorable condition of its VIP seating area. Once considered premium, the chairs are now broken, torn, or heavily soiled. The space beneath the seats is littered with plastic bottles, food wrappers, and empty liquor bottles. The walls are also stained with gutkha spit, revealing a clear lack of maintenance and hygiene.
Local residents and sports enthusiasts have criticized the neglect of the stadium. However, some point fingers at the public’s role in the deterioration. Irresponsible acts such as littering, spitting on walls, and damaging seats are seen as signs of public indiscipline. The stadium is a community asset, and its upkeep demands collective responsibility.
While authorities may have failed in regular cleaning and maintenance, many believe the real culprits are those who misuse public property. Throwing trash irresponsibly, spitting on walls, and damaging seats all reflect a disregard for civic responsibility.
“A stadium is a shared asset of the community,” said a local resident of Dongka town. He added that if people do not take responsibility for preserving its dignity, even the best maintenance efforts will be in vain. “It’s time to stop blaming only the officials and start questioning those who treat public property as disposable.”
Another citizen remarked, “Respecting public places starts with us. The seats didn’t break themselves, and the gutkha stains didn’t appear out of thin air.”
Conscious citizens urge the administration to act swiftly, restoring the dignity of Waisong Stadium before the situation worsens.
