Wild elephant damages two houses and 1 shop in Nahorlangso

DILLAI, Aug 22: In a latest incident, two houses and a shop were damaged by a wild elephant at Nahorlangso Block -I Dhonsing Engleng village under the Lahorijan Forest East Division here today.
According to the affected families, the wild jumbo entered the village in the wee hours at around 4 am during which it damaged the house belonging to Sar-et Bey and the house and shop of Kiso Engleng. In addition to the house and properties, the wild elephant also devoured and spoiled rice stored inside their home. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident but the affected families are petrified about the incident and also fear of a similar rampage and threat to their lives and properties in the future.
The wild elephant’s impromptu visit has served as a stark reminder of the delicate coexistence between human habitats, igniting a renewed urgency in the quest for harmonious living across all parts of Karbi Anglong.
