BOKAJAN, Aug 21: Under the initiative of the Karbi Anglong District’s Diphu Legal Services Authority, a workshop on Procedures of Law was conducted on Sunday at Khatkhati Rain Inn Hotel. The workshop was attended as participants by village headmen, VDPs and members of customary courts.
Khatkhati Police Station president Suresh Singh chaired the workshop and was attended as resource persons by Diphu Karbi Anglong District Legal Services Authority’s FOC Rani Devi, Advocate Hafiza Begum, Nagarik Committee Chairman Longkathar Engti, member Manik Singh, Ganga Pradhan, Birendra Rai and others.
While speaking on the occasion Rani Devi informed several details about the Basics of the Procedure of Laws under CRPCs and IPCs. She also spoke about the rights of accused persons or arrested persons, their duty after being arrested, and other steps to defend and get justice. The main objective of the workshop was to make the village-level representative of law aware of the basic rules of law.
Organisers informed that a similar type of workshop has been conducted under other police station areas in the past and that they will continue to hold the same in places.
