Youth dies at Kaipholangso waterfall

DOLAMARA, May 27: A 19-years-old boy died while swimming with his two other friends at Kaipholangso waterfall located under Dolamara Police Station yesterday. According to a reliable source, three friends came to visit Kaipholangso waterfall, two from Tezpur and one from Bokakhat started swimming, when one of them went missing. Later, the committee members informed OC Dolamara Police Station and called NDRF and SDRF from Bokakhat for a search operation the dead of the youth was recovered at around 7pm yesterday. Further the dead body was sent for postmortem to Diphu today. The deceased person was identified as Janti Bonia, Son of Lalit Bonia of Beseria, Tezpur and was a student of Darrang College, Tezpur.
During an interaction with the media person, Volunteers and the Committee members also informed TDE that the incident took place while they were away for their lunch and that they have also forewarned them to not cross and swim over the danger zone. Moreover, President of the committee Mr. Semson Singnar also added that they have always advised people from across the state coming to Kaipholangso to follow precautionary measures. Officials informed that this is the fifth time such an incident has happened at Kaipholangso waterfall. Officials also shared information indicating a danger zone and if violated they will not responsible for any untoward incidents.
It may be mentioned that Kaipholangso is one of the most famous picnic spots along the Karbi Anglong- Golaghat border. Several people across the state come for family picnic, trekking and sometimes enjoy the water to beat the heat during the hot sunny season.
